What it does
Find companies across all SEC filers matching a threshold on one metric for a period, using SEC's XBRL Frames API. Available metrics: revenue, grossProfit, operatingIncome, netIncome, epsBasic, epsDiluted, totalAssets, currentAssets, totalLiabilities, currentLiabilities, longTermDebt, totalEquity, cashAndEquivalents, operatingCashFlow, capex, rdExpense. Revenue includes the preferred tag and two known US-GAAP synonyms; each result reports the selected tag and the response lists tags queried. Other metrics use one tag. SEC calendar-year frames can contain an issuer's closest fiscal period rather than a period ending December 31, so use periodEnd from each result when comparing companies. Ask for a min/max threshold when one is needed rather than guessing.
Matching company identifiers and values, period ends, the selected XBRL tags, and the tags queried for the screen.
Who it helps
Researchers creating a broad first-pass screen across SEC filers.

Example request
Screen SEC filers for fiscal periods near calendar 2024 with revenue above ten billion dollars.
{
"metric": "revenue",
"year": 2024,
"min": 10000000000,
"sort": "desc",
"limit": 20
}What to expect
Matching company identifiers and values, period ends, the selected XBRL tags, and the tags queried for the screen.
Important limits
SEC calendar-year frames may contain the issuer's closest fiscal period, not a period ending December 31. Check periodEnd and tags; not every mapped financial metric is screenable through Frames.
Data sources and verification
EdgarStack uses SEC EDGAR filings and, for applicable tools, SEC XBRL company-facts data. Coverage depends on the issuer, filing, taxonomy tags, and tool inputs. Follow the source filing references and verify material facts against the official filing.
