compute_ratios

Calculates common profitability, liquidity, leverage, return, and working-capital ratios from mapped SEC facts. Additional panels are available for SEC SIC-classified banks and regulated utilities.

Analysts comparing operating performance or checking ratio inputs before deeper research.

What it does

Compute margins, liquidity, leverage, return, and working-capital ratios for a US-listed company. SEC SIC-classified banks also receive income-mix and equity/assets ratios; regulated utilities receive capex/revenue and operating-cash-flow/capex ratios. Specialized panels include their SEC tags, source periods, methodology and coverage limits; missing source values remain null.

Ratio values by reporting period, with source periods and methodology or coverage details for specialized panels. Unavailable source values remain null.

Important limits

Ratio definitions and denominators matter. ROA and ROE do not average balances in this tool. Industry, fiscal period, missing tags, and classification can affect which ratios are available.

Data sources and verification

EdgarStack uses SEC EDGAR filings and, for applicable tools, SEC XBRL company-facts data. Coverage depends on the issuer, filing, taxonomy tags, and tool inputs. Follow the source filing references and verify material facts against the official filing.
